About
Baobab Health is an online, bilingual, open-access scientific journal dedicated to disseminating African research in medicine, pharmacy, and dental surgery, with particular attention to Africa.
The journal aims to address the underrepresentation of this region’s scientific output in indexed international publishing, offering researchers, clinicians, and students a rigorous publication venue. Reading published articles is entirely free for all readers.
Our commitments
- Publishing high-quality research, rigorously and fairly peer-reviewed (double-blind);
- Supporting the development of scientific writing skills among young African researchers;
- Guaranteeing the integrity, transparency, and ethics of all our publications;
- Adhering to international scientific publishing standards, notably those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Editorial scope
Baobab Health publishes original work across the full range of human health disciplines, with a focus on:
- Medicine: internal medicine and specialties, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, general and specialized surgery, public health and epidemiology, tropical medicine and infectious diseases, medical imaging, psychiatry, and more.
- Pharmacy: clinical pharmacology, pharmacovigilance, hospital and community pharmacy, phytotherapy and African pharmacopeia, medical biology.
- Dental surgery: restorative dentistry, oral surgery, periodontology, orthodontics, public oral health.
Priority — though not exclusive — attention is given to work addressing health issues relevant to the African continent.

Baobab Santé est une revue scientifique en ligne, bilingue et en libre accès, consacrée à la diffusion de la recherche africaine en médecine, pharmacie et chirurgie dentaire, avec une attention particulière portée à l’Afrique.
La revue vise à combler un déficit de visibilité de la production scientifique de cette région dans l’édition indexée internationale, en offrant aux chercheurs, cliniciens et étudiants un espace de publication rigoureux. La lecture des articles est entièrement gratuite pour tous les lecteurs.
Nos engagements
- Publier une recherche de qualité, évaluée par les pairs de façon rigoureuse et équitable (double aveugle) ;
- Soutenir le développement des compétences rédactionnelles des jeunes chercheurs africains ;
- Garantir l’intégrité, la transparence et l’éthique de toutes nos publications ;
- Adhérer aux standards internationaux de publication scientifique, notamment ceux du Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) et de l’International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Champ éditorial
Baobab Santé publie des travaux originaux touchant à l’ensemble des disciplines de la santé humaine, avec un focus sur :
- Médecine : médecine interne et spécialités, pédiatrie, gynécologie-obstétrique, chirurgie générale et spécialisée, santé publique et épidémiologie, médecine tropicale et maladies infectieuses, imagerie médicale, psychiatrie, etc.
- Pharmacie : pharmacologie clinique, pharmacovigilance, pharmacie hospitalière et officinale, phytothérapie et pharmacopée africaine, biologie médicale.
- Chirurgie dentaire : odontologie conservatrice, chirurgie buccale, parodontologie, orthodontie, santé bucco-dentaire publique.
Une attention prioritaire, mais non exclusive, est accordée aux travaux portant sur des problématiques de santé pertinentes pour le continent africain.
